Emily Day, MSN, FNP-C

My name is Emily Day and I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner.  I earned both my undergraduate degree in Nursing and my Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas.  Since graduating in 2012 until recently, I have worked at the Kansas University Integrative Medicine clinic under the guidance of Dr. Jeanne Drisko, and then Dr. Kim.  I’m also in the process of earning certification in Functional Medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM).

Like many of us in this field, I first got into Integrative and Functional Medicine through personal experience.  I was drawn to searching for underlying causes of my health concerns, rather than masking symptoms with medications or simply chalking them up to “getting older”.  As I saw my own health improve, I felt compelled to share this information with others and went back to graduate school to become a Nurse Practitioner.

Over the past 7 years, with the guidance of several mentors, my knowledge and experience have grown in the realm of using nutrition and lifestyle to help patients.  My clinical practice includes a comprehensive, personalized approaches to a wide variety of chronic conditions from sleep difficulty to hormone imbalances, fatigue, digestive issues, and more.  When Kansas University Integrative Medicine closed in Summer, 2019, I felt excited to learn that Dr. Nancy Russell wanted to expand her Nurturing Optimal Wellness clinic.  I feel that Dr. Russell and I will partner together to offer excellent Integrative and Functional medicine options for patients who seek our care, and I look forward to helping you.

When not at work, you can find me spending time with my family, out in nature, or with friends -ideally all of the above together!
